Please join us in welcoming Mary Margaret Hitt as the new principal of Cathedral School of Saint Mary.
Mary Margaret Hitt, a native Texan is a career educator who has worked in both public and parochial education for over thirty years. Having certification in administration from the State of Texas, she has served as principal in Catholic school for ten of those years. She is a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, and a wife. She also has three furry children, cocker spaniels Sandy, Vinnie, and Murphy. Murphy will be her roommate here in Austin. Currently, she is working on her doctorate in educational leadership with an emphasis on Catholic education.
Mary Margaret strongly believes in the power of Catholic education to change the world. Because of that, she believes that God calls all of us involved in Catholic education to a higher standard as we set the example for the world at large. In addition, Mary Margaret believes strongly in grounding all students in their faith and evangelizing the Catholic faith to others. She believes herself to be fair, firm, and consistent and above all, a servant of Jesus Christ.
Expressing a desire to build on the Cathedral School of St. Mary’s positive climate and culture, Mary Margaret hopes to bring new energy and ideas for growing the school into a showcase for the entire state of Texas as well as nationally. With a collaborative heart, she welcomes ideas from our stakeholders and has an open door policy for communication.
In her spare time, Mary Margaret loves to cook for her family and friends, read, and travel.
Our new principal welcomes all parents and students to introduce themselves to her.
